The Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles organized a seminar titled "Kashmir: Past, Present & Future" on February 4, 2025, to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day. The event brought together community members, scholars, and leaders, including Friends of Pakistan (FOP), to express strong support for Kashmiri self-determination.
Prominent speakers, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Dar and Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, provided historical insights, analyzed the current geopolitical landscape, and discussed future challenges for Kashmir. Consul General Asim Ali Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, justice, and the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people. He also conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s message of solidarity, condemning human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir and urging international action.
Arif Mansuri, Chairman of FOP, delivered a passionate speech emphasizing unwavering support for Kashmir and calling on the international community to hold India accountable. He urged continued advocacy and quoted Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to reinforce the importance of Kashmir to Pakistan.
Jamal Khawaja, President of FOP, expressed appreciation for the speakers and emphasized the responsibility of raising awareness about the Kashmiri struggle. He encouraged collective action, stating that if direct intervention isn’t possible, spreading awareness remains crucial.
FOP’s executive board members actively participated, reaffirming solidarity with Kashmir and commending the Consulate General’s efforts in raising awareness. The event concluded with a Q&A session, fostering discussions on diplomatic efforts, advocacy strategies, and the role of the Pakistani diaspora in supporting the Kashmiri cause.
